Merriam-Webster's
Collegiate
Dictionary
defines "Legacy"
as:
2.
"something
transmitted by
or received from
an ancestor or
predecessor or
from the past."
Looking Back
One of the
things that is
evident to each
of our partners
is our
tremendous debt
to those who
helped us out
along the way -
the ones who
hired us into
this industry,
those who
trained and
mentored as well
as those who
encouraged us to
live up to our
individual
potentials.
In any field
technician there
is a living
history. You
can't become
your very best
without the
input and
assistance of
many other
people. For
that help, we
will always be
grateful and it
is our pledge to
live up to the
standards they
set for us.
Looking
Around Us
Each and every
day is filled
with challenges
and
opportunities.
Brian Tracy once
said,
"Life is like a
combination
lock; your job
is to find the
right numbers,
in the right
order, so you
can have
anything you
want."
What's troubling
is that most of
us never get
about the job of
working on the
lock. We are
distracted by
all the problems
(we'll call them
challenges) -
the ones that
besiege us from
one waking hour
to the next.
Some years back
I tried to
express it this
way to one of my
work groups.
It's like a fire
department that
keeps its'
trucks at the
fire all the
time. Inevitably,
they will break
down, unless you
take time to
service,
maintain and
paint them. We
used to have an
expression -
"Take time to
paint the
truck!" They're
easy words but
the actual
application is
much more
difficult.
After all, the
fire rages on!
As we look
around us, we
understand that
building a
company which
will withstand
the test of
time, requires a
great deal of
maintenance
work. Every
stage builds
upon the last.
One stage that
rests upon a
faulty
foundation can
crumble the
entire
structure.
Looking Forward
One of our
pivotal goals at
Legacy P&C is to
be a part of
creating the
generation that
will take our
places in the
industry. Like
those who took a
chance on us,
we're committed
to searching for
the best talent
available and
then doing
everything we
can to make them
successful.
After many years
in field
services, it
is most
rewarding to see
the people we've
been able to
mentor towards
success. If
we've done our
job right, they
too will be
compelled to
provide the same
assistance to
others going
forward. And
it's more than
just teaching
the "X's and
O's" of the
business. It
means creating a
culture of
excellence in
the way we
operate.
And that's where
the "Legacy"
comes in.
Gratitude
towards those to
whom we owe so
much and a
commitment to
the present and
the future of
our company and
industry.
